FAQs

  • An aura camera works by using biofeedback sensors to measure the energy emitted from the body, and then translating that information into colors that are displayed on the photograph. One session takes about ten minutes — two minutes to get situated for the photograph, three minutes for the colors to appear, and two-three minutes for a brief interpretation of the portrait.

  • Yes, aura cameras are safe to use. They don't emit any harmful radiation or energy, and the process is completely non-invasive.

  • The accuracy of aura cameras is a matter of debate, where even meanings of colors are loosely subject to interpretation. Some people believe that they are accurate, while others believe that they are more of a novelty item. It's important to remember that aura photography is not a scientifically recognized practice, and one should only take what resonates with regard to the results.

  • Children above the age of 7 and adults can have their aura photographed, including pregnant women, as long as they can sit still for the photograph. Younger children’s hands won’t fit the biofeedback sensors. Pets also require specific sensor plates, which we don’t have.

  • Keep the following in mind as you prepare for your aura portrait:

    1. Low energy/fatigue, hangovers or use of substances, and recent health issues may affect your portrait.

    2. Wearing solid dark tops is ideal.

    3. Remove any reflective accessories prior to the shoot.

    4. Be able to keep still for up to fifteen seconds due to prolonged camera exposure. Otherwise, you might get a blurry portrait as a result.

  • Aura portrait sessions are currently by appointment only. Pop-up dates will be announced first to newsletter subscribers, then on Instagram.

  • Yes, at the same price of a usual aura portrait session. The aura camera is analog in nature and requires long exposures. Blurry shots do happen especially if the subject is not able to keep still for up to fifteen seconds.

Keep in mind that retakes are not likely going to have wildly different results in terms of aura results.

  • We can photograph a maximum of two people in a portrait, so couples and parent/child portraits are welcome. The duo portrait will show a combination of the two auras. While we do not charge extra for a duo portrait, only one copy will be produced. If you would like another copy, please book two sessions.

  • The aura camera can only read the energy of two people at a maximum. Children under the age of 7 are welcome to join their parent/guardians, and the photograph will reflect the energy of the parent/s when the child is with them.

  • Aura portrait sessions come with one portrait printed on Instax Wide film, along with a brief interpretation. Click on the “Your Aura” page to find more information on interpreting your portrait.
